However, SICOECO stands out due to its unique biodegradability feature. When placed in organic compost, SICOECO undergoes degradation facilitated by an additive. This additive accelerates the breakdown of treated plastics in microbe-rich environments, such as biologically active landfills. Microbes are attracted to the product, colonizing its surface and secreting acids that break down the polymer chain. This process allows microbes to utilize the carbon backbone of the polymer chain as an energy source, effectively consuming the plastic as food. Such innovation contributes to environmental sustainability by reducing plastic waste and promoting biodegradation.
